Tokyo Cowboy
In this delightful culture-clash comedy, No Ogawa (Hiromoto Ida) is captivated by the wild west of Hollywood movies, which he sees personified in his childhood pen pal, Canadian girl Kate Beatty (Christina Hirt). Determined to realize his dreams of a home in the West, he sets out from his dead-end job in Tokyo to find Kate and become a bona fide Canadian cowboy. But reality intercedes, as Kate hates small-town life despite the presence of her lover, Shelly (Janine Mortil), and longs to go somewhere she can be herself. The stage is set for misunderstanding, misadventure and cross-cultural confusion. “A film with sweetness and warmth” (Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune).
